Ok, so I’m finally getting around to posting my first article in this category of my blog. Finally, right? I know, I’m sorry. But I guess I was trying to figure out where to start or what to tell you first. I’ve been at this since about 2011, and while I’m still a long way from reaching my goals and still have a lot to learn, I’ve also managed to figure out quite a bit too. I hope to share what I’ve learned and what I’m doing, what’s working for me and what I’m struggling with, some of the most common pitfalls..you know, just a little bit of everything.
I think it’s important that I tell you I’m no expert, nor do I plan to paint myself as one. But I have indeed managed to make a few thousand dollars over the last 3 years or so, via a few hundred here and a few hundred there. Doesn’t sound all that impressive on the surface, but the sad truth is most people spend thousands of dollars trying to make money online and never actually make a dollar.
So what I hope to do first and foremost is share things I’ve learned over time that can help you save yourself a lot of money by telling you some things up-front that some people never quite get their heads around. Today I want to share with you 3 things you need to know before you even get started trying to make money on-line.
1. It’s Not All Scams And Ponsi Schemes
People will always do two things: (1.) Focus most of their attention on the negative and (2.) Criticize what they don’t understand. So obviously, almost all of what you hear about making money on-line is negative. Even those who are making a good living on the internet are often criticized by friends and family who don’t understand what they do. The fact that there are indeed many scammers and ponzi schemes out there, and they are always covered at great length, doesn’t help the overall perception of making money online.
But the reality is there are many honest, completely legal ways to make money on the internet. Most people don’t tend to find them because of the way they look. If you go to a search engine and type in “make money online” you’ll throw yourself into a sea of quicksand that will just pull you under. I hope to help you spot the signs of legitimate opportunities and the ones that play on people’s emotions and the overwhelming desire we all have to make fast money with almost no effort or time spent. Which brings me to number 2.
2. It’s Not Easy Or Instant
The one thing that causes almost everyone who tries to make money online to spend endless amounts of money without ever actually making any is the desire to find that easy, instant push-button way to internet riches. That’s not entirely the layman’s fault though. The most popular and easiest niche to make money on the internet in is the “Make Money On-Line” niche. Many internet marketers make 6 and 7 figure incomes selling to people who are desperate to make money on-line.
These people are often in dire straights, unemployed and looking for something quick, super easy and doesn’t require any work. Professional internet marketers are masters at playing to this desire so they often sell products that promise just that; push-button, easy, no effort, auto-pilot income. Even when you know the truth it can be very hard to resist the lure of such claims.
But what you need to really, really understand is that making an honest living on-line is a lot of work. It will take hours of effort every day AFTER you get done doing everything else you have to do. In order to make money on-line you must go into it with the mindset that it’s a business, and treat it like that. You expect a business to take a lot of work, training, effort, long hours and sweat equity; at least at first. You should go into making money on-line with the same mindset.
If you get your head wrapped around that simple concept, then every time you see something promising instant riches on-auto-pilot with little or no effort you can simply avoid spending your money on it because you already know there’s no such thing. But there’s a reason these things work so well. People don’t want to work, and they don’t really want to take the time to learn new things. Which brings me to the 3rd and final point.
3. Making Money On-Line Comes With A Steep Learning Curve
One thing you must understand that, like everything else you know how to do in life right now, making money on-line requires you learn new skills. There are some basic skills you need to learn to even have a chance at making any money on-line. In fact I’d say you have to know at least a little just to ask intelligent questions.
Many people, again because of the lure of the possibility that you can sign up for some program or something, send a few people to it and start making lots of money. Some of the skills can indeed get advanced, but that really doesn’t come into play until later. In the beginning the skills you need to learn aren’t very complicated at all. You just need to make the effort to find out what those basic skills are and be willing to learn them. But understanding and accepting that and the other two points I covered above before you ever even make that first internet search will help you make much more intelligent decisions about what you see and what you believe.
In summary, making money online is indeed possible. But like every legitimate, legal way of making money, it requires learning some skills, working hard and implementing what you’ve learned. Over time I hope to share a lot of information with you that will help you navigate this often misleading and confusing path. Again, I’m no expert by far. But I’ve learned a lot that can help you avoid most of the pitfalls many people fall into and get on the right path to something real.
